Monthly Update – February 3, 2014

Here’s what’s in the pipeline over the next few months:

  • Super Secret Project: Still in development.
  • Profile Links: 0.1 – Released.  This is a new WordPress plugin that adds a jump list to the top of the user profile page for easier navigation.
  • WordPress Statistics: This is a plugin for WordPress that tracks user statistics, I’m just about done with my contributions at this point so this should be my last update on this item.
  • Just Writing: 2.14.2 – Released.  WordPress 3.9 is going to break much of how Just Writing hooks in to TinyMCE and DFWM, however I’ve been working with the dev snapshots and have all issues resolved at this point.  After WP3.9 is released and things are stable the next steps are to do a massive code cleanup and see if a 2 row toolbar is still a good idea or not.
  • The Admin Theme Experience: 0.1 – Released.  This is a proof of concept for a new admin theme system in WordPress.  I’ve submitted for consideration to being added to the “Features as Plugins” list at WordPress.org.
  • Live Titles: 4.0 – Rewriting a good bit of the app to make it easier to add features and functions.  SSP (see above) and some of the WordPress plugins have taken my attention away from this at the moment.

WordPress 3.9 and Just Writing… Update!

I mentioned the other day that WordPress 3.9 was going to take a wreaking ball to Just Writing and that I might not have it ready before 3.9 was released.

Well good news, the wreaking ball was made out of styrofoam so the damage was not as great as I feared.

I have a working version of Just Writing with the development version of WP3.9 up and running so I don’t see any issue with getting it done before 3.9 ships.

If anyone is daring enough, I’ve committed the code to the WordPress SVN repository and you can download it if you like to take it for a test drive.  Otherwise I’ll release it in a few days after I’ve had a chance to test it some more.

WordPress 3.9 and Just Writing

Just in case anyone is interested, WordPress 3.9 is shaping up and it includes a major update to TinyMCE 4.0 (the editor WP uses).

This is going to break Just Writing very badly 🙁

However it’s nothing that can’t be fixed with some major coding, but I can’t guarantee that Just Writing will be ready by the time WP3.9 is released.  I expect to do a 3.0 release of Just Writing when I’ve got it working with WP3.9.

So if you really need Just Writing (and I thank you if you do), I’d suggest holding off on upgrading to WP3.9 until I get Just Writing 3.0 done.

Monthly Update – January 6, 2014

Happy New Year!

Here’s what’s in the pipeline over the next few months:

  • Super Secret Project: Still in development.
  • WordPress Statistics: This is a plugin for WordPress that tracks user statistics, I’ve been contributing some code to it which is included in the 4.0 release.
  • Inactive User Deleter: This is a plugin for WordPress that determines if a user is inactive and gives you the option of deleting them.  I’ve been contributing some code to it which should be included in the next release.
  • Just Writing: 2.14.2 – Released.  This is pretty much complete now, the next steps are to do a massive code cleanup and see if a 2 row toolbar is still a good idea or not.
  • SULly: 1.5 – Released.  A new WordPress plugin that displays the recent updates applied to your install on the dashboard.
  • Schedule Posts Calendar: 3.5 – Released.  This release updated the dhtmlxcalendar library to the current version and supported the new calendar theme that comes with it.
  • Schedule Posts Calendar: 4.3 – Released.  This release added language support.
  • Grey Admin Color Schemes: 1.5.1 – Released.  WordPress 3.8 dropped the grey color scheme (or at least made it a lot darker than 3.7’s), so this plugin adds 4 new grey color scheme’s to the admin area.
